Société civile

The social sphere that is independent of the state and the market and organises on the basis of volunteering, solidarity and the common good.

Organisation non gouvernementale (ONG)

A non-profit association, foundation, cooperative, platform or initiative operating for the public benefit.

Association

A legal entity established by at least seven natural or legal persons to combine their knowledge and work on a continuous basis (Law No. 5253).

Fondation

A legal entity established by natural or legal persons by dedicating sufficient property and rights to a specific purpose (Turkish Civil Code No. 4721).

Coopérative

A legal entity established to meet its members' specific economic interests and needs through mutual aid, solidarity and guarantee.

Bénévolat

An individual's use of their time, skills or resources for the benefit of society without expecting anything in return.

Philanthropie

The transfer of resources to NGOs by natural or legal persons in the form of money, goods or services.

Collecte de fonds (fundraising)

The work NGOs do to generate resources through donations, grants and sponsorships in order to sustain their activities.
