Waste management has become an increasing challenge in Tunisia. Municipalities that are responsible for waste management are underfunded. Many municipalities became unable to ensure the daily removal of waste because of strikes and general lack of capacity, generating an increase in unregulated and illegal rubbish dumps and black spots in public spaces covering the national territory.
