Our Collaborations
No one should have to struggle alone.
hangel walks side by side with organisations that help goodness grow. Here are our collaborations with institutions, our memberships, approvals and acceptances, non-profit programmes, the standards we comply with, our technology and what we have built.

From our founder
We started hangel with a single question: why should anyone who wants to do good be left alone? We wanted volunteers’ efforts to be seen, civil society organisations never to be alone in their search for resources, and young people’s volunteering experience to count when they apply for a job.
Today we no longer answer that question alone. Each organisation below is a step we have taken together towards a world where volunteering is visible, measurable and verifiable. We thank every one of them.
İsmail Hilmi Adıgüzel
Founder · Chair of the Board, Uluslararası Sosyal Fayda Derneği (Social Business Global)
Our vision
A world where everyone’s good deeds are visible, measurable and verifiable; where volunteering is valued as much as work experience; and where no one has to struggle alone.
Technologies we build
Technical infrastructure we write ourselves and run on our own servers. Every one of these is free for civil society organisations.
Verifiable digital certificates
We sign certificates on our own signing infrastructure with two independent keys (Ed25519 and RSA-2048); our issuer identity is published at did:web:hangel.org. The verification page re-checks the signature in the visitor’s browser instead of trusting the server. The recipient’s email enters the credential only as a salted hash.
For NGOs: You give your volunteers tamper-proof certificates that employers and universities can verify independently, for free.
QR and code check-in
A QR code and a 6-digit numeric code unique to the event appear on the screen at the door. For volunteering, only people whose application was approved can check in, and scanning twice does not create a second record. An entry pass styled like a boarding pass opens on check-in.
For NGOs: No more paper sign-in sheets: you see who came in your panel instantly, and volunteer hours are entered on top of this attendance.
ESCO skills mapping
Skill tags on listings, social areas and certificate types are mapped to skills in the European Commission’s ESCO classification and written into the certificate as machine-readable skill alignments. Only tags with an exact match in meaning are mapped, and every ESCO address has been checked against the official ESCO API.
For NGOs: The skills your volunteers gain appear on their certificates in Europe’s common skills language.
Monetary value of volunteering
Every completed volunteer hour is converted into a value in Turkish lira by multiplying it by the hourly rate of the work done; occupational rates are based on the ISCO-08 classification and TÜİK earnings data. The rate at the time of calculation is stored with the record, so past values stay intact when the table changes.
For NGOs: You can show the monetary value of volunteer work in your annual reports and funding applications.
Sustainability reports structured to international frameworks
Companies’ employee volunteering data (hours, monetary value, impact areas, supported NGOs) is structured from a single data model to the disclosure headings of the GRI Standards (2021), ESRS (CSRD), IFRS S1 (ISSB), the Turkish Public Oversight Authority’s TSRS standards and the Capital Markets Board’s sustainability principles, and downloads in Turkish or English as a printable document and Excel. Every report states clearly that it has not been independently audited.
For NGOs: Supporting companies feed volunteering data straight into their reports, making the effort they put into NGO partnerships visible.
Social impact and SDG mapping
Volunteering and support records are mapped to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by field of activity. The impact dashboard in the NGO panel calculates social return on investment (SROI) from volunteering value and donations with an open formula shown on the dashboard.
For NGOs: Measurable impact data for your annual reports and funding applications.
Write Your Project
It extracts the rules from a grant call’s official guidelines and writes the proposal to those rules. It checks the budget against the call’s limits and quotation rules and adds sourced evidence from TÜİK and World Bank data. A different AI model from the one that wrote the text scores it as a referee, and it measures how similar drafts written for the same call are to each other.
For NGOs: Organisations that cannot hire a proposal writer can still submit strong applications that follow the rules.
Grant and funding tracker
It checks the official pages of funding calls: it tells broken links apart from bot protection and takes a deadline only from a date next to a phrase such as “deadline”, leaving it blank when unsure. It notifies you of new calls that match your saved filters.
For NGOs: You never miss a funding opportunity that fits you, and you are less likely to miss a call because of a wrong date.
Emergency Blood
An urgent blood request first opens to compatible donors within 1 km; if not enough donors respond, the circle widens over time to 5, 10 and 50 km. The tier is derived from elapsed time, so no extra server job is needed, and urgency sets how fast it widens.
For NGOs: You reach the nearest suitable donors first, without flooding everyone with notifications.
A platform in 11 languages
The site and app are available in 11 languages, including right-to-left Arabic and Persian. Each language has its own address (hangel.org/en/…); pages are rendered on the server in that language and search engines are told about the language versions. A missing translation falls back to English, then Turkish.
For NGOs: You reach international volunteers and migrant communities in their own language.
Legal documents for 26 countries
A user’s legal jurisdiction is determined from their profile country, language and connection location, and the set of terms and policies prepared for that jurisdiction’s data protection law is shown. A country only counts if its official language is one we support and a framework specific to it is live.
For NGOs: Your legal documents are ready when you welcome volunteers and participants from abroad.
29 accessibility settings, 11 need groups
32 profiles for vision, hearing, speech, mobility, cognitive, neurodevelopmental, seizure, psychosocial, temporary situations, older age and language turn on with one tap; 29 settings apply to every page before it is painted and sync across devices with your account. Mapped to 72 standard criteria; target WCAG 2.2 AA.
For NGOs: Volunteers and participants with disabilities can use the platform the way they need.
Our social innovations
Approaches that turn our technology into everyday tools for civil society.
End-to-end event experience
One flow from registration to certificate: registration, an Apple Wallet ticket and calendar file, reminders, check-in at the door by QR or code with an entry pass, meeting links and an archive for online events, post-event feedback and a verifiable certificate.
For NGOs: Run your event from one place and keep in touch with participants after it ends.
Oda: our own meeting room
Video meetings in the browser, as an app or in the Mac/Windows app: meeting codes, invitations and automatic events, reminders, breakout rooms, polls and Q&A, live captions and listen-in-your-language translation, shared notes, formal minutes and a hybrid hall mode, with check-in, time spent and certificates handled automatically.
For NGOs: Meet online without paying for a meeting tool or counting attendance by hand.
Learn moreCorporate volunteering
Companies’ HR teams manage employee volunteering from their own panel and get matched with NGO listings; the data flows into their sustainability report.
For NGOs: Opens the door to volunteers and partnerships from companies.
hangel Market
The NGO share of the commission earned on purchases from partner shops goes to the organisation the shopper chooses, at no extra cost to the shopper. The browser extension reminds shoppers as they buy.
For NGOs: A steady stream of support, without asking your supporters to pay anything extra.
Library and AI assistant
Brings social impact, entrepreneurship and civil society resources together; an AI assistant answers questions about them.
For NGOs: A free resource for your team’s learning and research.
