1. Purpose
To explain how we respect the rights in hangel's own content, in content uploaded by users and organisations and in third-party works, and how we handle infringement reports.
2. Scope
The hangel platform's software, design, name and logo; user and organisation content (posts, photos, videos, event and listing texts, presentation files, project drafts); open-source software and third-party content used on the platform.
3. Principles
- Users keep their rights. Users keep their rights in the content they upload; they grant hangel a non-exclusive right to use, reproduce and display it only for providing the service (Terms of Use, Article 6).
- Event images. Photos and videos of events and volunteering may be used non-exclusively by hangel and the organising body to promote the activity; separate consent is collected for identifiable people.
- Upload only what you have rights to. Users and organisations upload only content they own or have permission to use.
- Respecting licences. We use open-source components in line with their licence terms and publish the list.
- Project drafts belong to their authors. Drafts prepared in Write Your Project belong to the person or organisation that prepared them; hangel does not use them in applications in its own name.
- Proper attribution. Other organisations' logos and trademarks are used only with permission or in line with their own usage rules.
4. Roles and responsibilities
- Board of Directors: responsible for protecting the rights in the hangel name, logo and software.
- Super-admins: review infringement reports and remove the content or leave it published.
- Users and organisations: responsible for the rights in the content they upload.
5. How it works at hangel today
- Brand usage: How to use the hangel logo and name is explained at hangel.org/logo-usage.
- Infringement reports: Content that infringes copyright or trademark rights can be reported in the app with "Report" → "Other", or by writing to destek@hangel.org. A super-admin reviews it; if there is an infringement, the content is hidden from the public.
- Software component list: A list of the open-source components used by the web app (SBOM) is generated with every release and published through hangel.org/guvenlik.
- Automatic translation: Organisation content can be translated automatically into the visitor's language; the original text can always be seen with "show original".
- Project drafts: Personal drafts are deleted when the account is deleted; drafts belonging to an organisation stay with the organisation and fields identifying the person are anonymised.
6. Not yet in place and our goals
- There is no separate form or "counter-notice" process for copyright and trademark reports; our goal is to add one to the Content Moderation and Takedown Policy.
- This policy makes no statement about the registration status of the "hangel" name and logo; we do not claim registration.
- There is no separate guide on the rights status of AI-generated text and images (AI Ethics Policy).
7. How to raise a concern
Infringement: "Report" in the app or destek@hangel.org (with information showing you hold the rights and a link to the content). Permission to use the brand: info@hangel.org
8. Review
At least once a year.
