1. Purpose
This policy sets out, in one place, the values that guide everyone who works for, volunteers with or speaks on behalf of hangel. hangel is a platform that brings organisations, volunteers, participants and brands together. The work rests on trust: trust that a volunteer's hours are recorded correctly, that an amount due to an NGO is calculated correctly and that personal data is protected.
2. Scope
The hangel platform (the hangel.org website and the hangel iOS and Android apps) is operated by the International Social Benefit Association (Uluslararası Sosyal Fayda Derneği, also known as Social Business Global; association registry no. 34-262-102, Türkiye). This policy applies to:
- members of the Association's Board of Directors and Supervisory Board,
- the Association's employees, interns and its own volunteers,
- anyone with super-admin or support access to the platform,
- consultants and suppliers working on behalf of the Association.
Binding rules for organisations (NGOs, clubs, brands) and users of the platform are in the Terms of Use, the organisation membership agreements and the Community Guidelines; this policy is read together with them.
3. Principles
- Honesty. We do not overstate figures, impact or ourselves. We do not claim certificates, audits, awards or memberships we do not hold. If a feature is not live, we do not say it exists.
- Human dignity. We treat everyone with equal respect and do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or abuse.
- Accountability. Every decision has an owner. Administrative actions on the platform are written to an audit log.
- Confidentiality. Personal data is used only for its purpose and only by authorised people.
- Avoiding conflicts of interest. When a personal interest conflicts with the Association's interest, we say so openly and step back from the decision.
- Respect for the law. We observe Türkiye's Law on Associations (No. 5253), the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698) and the relevant rules of the countries where we operate.
4. Roles and responsibilities
- Board of Directors: approves this policy, takes final decisions on alleged breaches and reviews the policy annually.
- Supervisory Board: assesses allegations concerning Board members.
- Super-admins: use their platform permissions only for their duties and do not look at user or organisation data out of curiosity or for personal purposes.
- Everyone: reads and follows this policy and reports breaches they see.
5. How it works at hangel today
- A large share of server-side actions that change data are written to an audit log (who did what, on which record, when); these logs are kept for two years.
- Super-admin permissions are granted section by section; each person sees only the sections they are responsible for.
- Our public pages (for example /guvenlik and /accessibility) openly list what we have not done yet.
- Records created by test and demo accounts do not send notifications to real people, and demo data is not included in public figures.
- Platform users can report inappropriate content and behaviour with the in-app "Report" button.
6. Not yet in place and our goals
- There is no regular ethics training for staff and volunteers yet; we aim to prepare a short annual training.
- We do not yet record a signed or electronic acknowledgement that this policy has been read; our goal is to collect one from everyone who joins.
- There is no separate channel for ethics advice; for now the reporting channels below are used.
7. How to raise a concern
- Ethics breaches and misconduct: the channels in the Whistleblowing Policy (kvkk@hangel.org, subject "Whistleblowing — Confidential").
- Content and behaviour on the platform: the in-app "Report" button.
- General questions: info@hangel.org
No one who reports in good faith will face retaliation.
8. Review
The Board of Directors reviews this policy at least once a year and after any significant incident, change in the law or change in the Association's structure.
