1. Purpose
To set out our commitment to respect human rights and our position against modern slavery, including forced labour, human trafficking and child labour.
2. Scope
The activities, employees and volunteers of the International Social Benefit Association; the hangel platform; our suppliers and partners. The Association is not an organisation required to publish a statement under the UK Modern Slavery Act or similar laws; this statement is voluntary.
3. Principles
- We are guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Forced or bonded labour, human trafficking and child labour are not accepted.
- Volunteering does not replace paid work. Volunteering cannot be used to replace a paid job; volunteers are never asked for fees or deposits.
- Employees are paid through a bank, never below the legal minimum wage (existing Human Resources Policy).
- No one's identity documents are withheld.
4. Roles and responsibilities
- Board of Directors: approves this statement and updates it annually.
- People making purchases: consider these principles when choosing suppliers.
- Super-admins: remove listings and content involving exploitation from the platform.
5. How it works at hangel today
- Volunteering listings and organisation profiles can be reported; listings involving exploitation can be reported under "Fraud" or "Other" and are removed.
- Any listing or communication that facilitates trafficking or exploitation of children is prohibited and reported to the authorities (Child Protection Policy).
- The Volunteering Experience Document states clearly that it is not an employment contract.
6. Not yet in place and our goals
- We have not assessed human rights or modern slavery risks for our suppliers.
- Supplier contracts contain no clause on this topic.
- We do not systematically check whether organisations' volunteering listings replace paid work; detection relies on reports.
7. How to raise a concern
"Report" in the app · kvkk@hangel.org (subject "Whistleblowing — Confidential") · if someone is in danger, 112.
8. Review
Annually; the Board of Directors re-approves the statement each year.
